  1. So in light of recent events of a friend of mine being hacked this got me thinking about something... Should Minecraft have 2 factor authentication like the steam platform.

My opinion is that it would be great for security reasons and would lead to less Compromised Accounts.
The only problem I see with it is that it could be hard to implement but would have great pros compared tot he cons.

Let me know what you guys think!

  2. 100% yes.. I'm really surprised that Mojang hasn't implemented it into the Java Edition of minecraft. I think it would also seriously help with the account hacking that has been going on for so long within the game itself.

  3. 100% yes. Would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO helpful. (not even exaggerating)
  4. Spamming is not allowed on the EMC forums.
  5. #worthit
  6. Ooh, an admin spammed..... Bad admin. xD

But yes, I feel like 2FA is a good idea... I started using it once I got hacked and i would like to see it in the biggest gaming platform I'm into.
  7. I'm gonna report this to the community manager

  8. Unless your one of the super geeks who implemented this after taking your tech course and learning about what hackers do to crack your password, your password is probably less than 8 characters.

If that’s the case, you should really make your password longer, go over 8 if your concerned. The software hackers use is pretty intelligent, and currently passwords with 7 or less characters is vulnerable no matter what character/number/symbol combination you use. Sooo, your gonna want to make sure your password is secure.
  9. I was shocked when my work required my password to be under 8 characters.
  10. If websites put restrictions on what your password must contain or their length, their making it easier for hackers to find out the password. So maybe you should delete your account and go on your way, or if you can get them to not do that.
  11. Oof, I was the only person who didn't vote yes.

As helpful as 2FA would be for keeping people's accounts secure, it also seems like quite a hassle to have to use it every single time you log in. I personally do not use 2FA and have never had an issue with account security (And yes I know this isn't a sound argument, but still), so the benefits and consequences cancel out in my mind, hence the "I don't care" vote.
  12. Let’s just hope your password is secure enough, cause if the hacker is targeting EMC players, I think everyones at risk.

  13. Well most 2FA only applies to new devices. So you would never have to bother it logging in from your usual computer, only when you use a new one and how often is that? I can't think of the last time I logged in from a new computer. This should 100% definitely be a thing.
  14. The good thing is though, that I can only access my account from a work computer, so no biggie
