Download native launcher 38.95MB/ error code 5 .. HELP

  1. Hello Helpers,

    I double click on my Mindecraft icon as normal, so of course the launcher wants to update. Download native launcher starts, finishes the download, Mojang native launcher updater window says: Problem moving C:/Program Files(x86) Minecraft/tmp/tmpLauncher.exe with error code 5 ..then I press the "OK" button. Hoping it will just continue on to open Minecraft, which never happens. ( It opened one time but never since) So what can I do??

  2. According to Google, the answer is to navigate to that location and delete file manually before trying again.

  3. Hello Zelda, I missed a full day Saturday playing minecraft because the same thing happened to me. After a day of searching this is the solution I came across, straight from the forum on mojang, and it is what worked for me.
    go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Minecraft\tmp and rename the .tmp file to MinecraftLauncher.exe
    copy and overwrite the MinecraftLauncher.exe file in C:\Program Files(x86)\Minecraft with the renamed file.
    restart the game, let it run through its course and the game should start from there, mine did and I was very glad.
    If you go to mojang.com you can find this exact solution by a guy named Michael. So it's not my solution but it certainly worked for me. For the record, on mojang.com, the solution they gave didn't work for me lol but scroll below their solution and this michael posted the correct solution for the problem. So do it and enjoy your minecraft game again.

  5. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-5291 <--- this is the url where I found the solution that worked for me. scroll down to where it says, "activity" click, "all" tab and then scroll down to find the name, "Michael" I mentioned. Good Luck and enjoy. :)

  9. Well odd enough my son DarkAngle did a hook up to my computer. He started mc as usual & did the download as i did, but this time everything work as it was suppose to. So I did not need to do anything else... :D hurray!

  11. Ah okay! That you are back up and running is the main thing. Missing a day of minecarft is like missing a morning without coffee. We need our daily fix. lol! Have a good day and stay positive. :)
