[SUGGESTION] Senior Staff Create No-Build-Mode Regions Around End Crystal Towers

  1. I see where you are coming from, but this sort of behaviour shows clear malicious intent. 'Negatively Trolling' if you will. This means that people can be dealt with accordingly by staff with reasonable confidence. Also, these sort of structures will most likely be quite obvious, so players can at least see what's going on and report staff so they can help remove it before they start killing the dragon.

I understand that no method is perfect, and most ways of handling this have big downsides, but I personally don't think that removing the build protection, that is often used to protect structures that can assist in killing the dragon, is the best choice here judging by the fact lot of people on this thread alone are unhappy with the proposal.

I originally thought just a WE region surrounding the crystal's generic area holding flags that stop build mode would be sufficient. But this has it's issues as well, as you have stated. I'm also not exactly in a fit state to suggest things down to this level, as I don't have much of an insight into what is currently in place for such fixes.

I hope a solution with nearly no negative effects is found c:. I can hope for things plucked from an ideal world right?

  2. I feel like this redundant, because theoretically many places could have this issue. While admittedly blocking someone's entrance into frontier is a more difficult feat than a small end Crystal tower, it has happened (especially on smp8), but this didn't stop the anti grief update.

Like someone else has said, this can be dealt with more easily, and I haven't seen anyone maliciously block the crystals yet. I think this would be a rare occurrence in contrast to the common iron bars getting replaced. But if this is why you don't want to just protect that one area, suddenly many player builds may be exposed to griefing. It'd be like solving one issue and creating an entire, larger new one, imo.

  3. Why not code the iron bars to act like common blocks........Thus allowing the bars to be replaced whether intentional or not.
Also for those that want iron bars protected they can just use buildmode.

  4. All the permanent buildings in the End that I have seen was done away from the main island. There may be some exceptions and I haven't visited all the End worlds, but with all the traffic going through that area I think anyone who does build there is going to encounter a lot of heartbreak.

It seems to me that it would be reasonable to treat the main island or at least the center of the main island like we do the spawn areas of the wild and not allow buildmode there.

  5. Check out wild end at least on smp8. I can't speak for other worlds, but smp8 has a few mega structures there that aid all players for Dragon killing and exploring, which them being unable to be protected anymore would damage everyone.

  6. You are saying that I made a false statement that needs to be corrected?
  7. Not necessarily. Was just offering one such example where this may not be applicable. The center of the end island already is a place where players can't put on buildmode I believe (though build is on so you can reach the head and the like).

I don't believe the entire island should be unable to have buildmode in though. Like I said, at least on the smp I'm familiar with, it could be a severe loss.

  8. Maybe this is a silly idea, but why not just do away with the special blocks always being in build mode? I think that would solve this type of problem since most of the time, people tossing down the iron bars or a few blocks for a pillar or a sign don't mean for it to be protected for forever. There's build mode when a player turns it on and wants things permanently protected, and otherwise, it's a default to no protect mode.

  9. ive ran into this problem, i just stand on top of the bars and shoot down....requires no breaking
