  1. Oh, my specs. Forgot that part.

AMD Athlon II 640 Quad-Core Processor.
    1TB HDD.
    Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit)
    10GB Ram
    NVIDIA GeForce 210
  2. This is going to sound weird to you guys Im sure.. because sometimes I really do not know what kind of community we have.. but, I spend alot of my time "finding" viruses. That is.... to crawl through the darkest places on the internet.. and wait for something to hit me.. now, after that happens its the fun part.. I have 0 antivirus software.. none... and then I go through and find out how to get rid of it.. I can say that my computer is completely virus free... you dont have to take my word for it... honestly I dont care if you do :p... but its just an old past time of mine that when i get bored, i still find myself doing.

    Specs
    Sony Vaio VGN-fw460j
    windows 7 ultimate(x64)
    4gb ram
    Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 ghz
    some silly onboard graphics card...

and this computer is 2 years old... and runs like a charm.. I run into more physical problems.. like dieing wires and such, things that come with laptops that have traveled to South Korea and back... than software problems.. tho I am due for an upgrade.. just waiting for the funds :p

I do like Linux but typically stick to purpose driven machines for that.
For example, for my NAS, I use freenas, based on FreeBSD. For my router, I use PFSense, based on FreeBSD. This is because they don't need anything more than that, and what better platform than one built from the ground up with security in mind. I don't need to know anything about linux for these machines to function great. Everything is set up through a web interface anyway, so they are both headless, as a NAS and router should be.

My blade server, which runs Apache, I run Windows 2k8 r2 ( I might take crap for this being on a Windows box, but at least it isn't IIS :p ), mostly because I am more familiar with Windows... I am not going to argue against the fact that a Linux distro may have been a better choice.

When it comes to gaming and my HTPC, I have always preferred Windows. This is due to both the availability of software, and familiarity again.

As you can see, I do put thought in to what platform I want to use for what purpose. Did you notice that Mac didn't come up as a good option for any of these? I did :p

    My Rig:
    i7 920 (first batch) w/ noctua NH-U12P SE1366 OC to 3.6
    Asus P6T mobo
    560ti
    6GB DDR3 1600
    no SSD yet :(

Been a Windows user since 3.11, never had a virus.
Been a Microsoft user (MS-DOS) since needing to upgrade from 2MB ram to 4MB ram to play doom... then informing himem LOL.

  5. Macs run of Unix (Ubuntu). Windows run on Microsoft's own code base, which they haven't put that much effort into making it safe.
  6. very true, but PC is typically windows/Linux. Apple computers are typically not called PC's even though they are indeed personal computers, they're just called Macs.
  7. Not the best, but it runs most games at least on low.

  9. See I've never had any issues with vista that most have, and I've used pretty much every form of windows.
  10. My computer... it's not very good. It's Windows, though that's not related to the not-goodness of it. I just didn't (and still don't) have a lot of money floating around when I got it. I'll go find out where it says my specs then post that.

I can't make heads or tails out of any of this, so...

  11. tbh.. i never had a problem with vista myself... it was ... different, and I def prefer 7 over vista easily.. but ... the computer for this one, god rest its soul, never knew anything other than vista.. and I did all the stuff on it that I do now.. sans minecraft..
  12. Well upgrading to 7( I like 7 also, I have it on my laptop) was one of my upgrading plans when I get money. Though a new graphics card is my main focus. The 210 likes to mess with my graphics a lot.

  13. I use to have a PC but I made the best purchase I have ever made by getting a Mac. Here are the specs:

    13" MacBook Pro (2011)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
  14. I have a 2011 macbook pro 13 inch its name is Patrick I'm using him now :)
  15. I have never found a windows operating system to be dangerous...:) unless you eat the install disc, you are pretty safe:) apples tech support is a joke:/ my girlfriends sister has a 1 year old macbook pro, it died a week ago. She took it to the genius bar, they said she was rough with it. I opened it up, faulty soldering and wire hookups on the mobo...But macs are lucky enough the have MacDefender!!!!:)
  16. No, you're getting an Xbox ;)

Mac-desktop-thingy, the biggest one. Apple FTW. <3

My brother has created a great number of viruses. Don't worry, he's not unleashing them on the greater public or anything, we just use them to prank my friends :p
