  1. Time and time again new players come on the server, complete the tutorial, and instantly ask to join a town. They're under the impression that Empire Minecraft is a towny server, which it isn't.

I propose that a new room be added to the tutorial that explains that Empire Minecraft is not a towny server, and also gives the new player some more information.

The information on holograms would be:
    • Empire Minecraft is not a towny server.
    • However, each player gets their own 60x60 residence in the Town world.
    • If you want to join a group, consider joining a frontier outpost.
    • Some outposts are public. A list of player-run outposts can be found at http://empire.us/forums/58.
    • You can also create your own outpost and invite other players!
So basically, tell the player that EMC isn't towny, and point them to the alternative: outposts. Hopefully this should save a lot of confusion.

  2. +1 This is something that has bothered me for a long time. I've found myself telling the majority of new players that EMC doesn't use Towny, and it would be so much easier if the tutorial stated it.

This is needed so badly! I've seen so many players join and say "Omg, the owner lied! This isn't a towny! I'm leaving" and they never come back on.

    Needed.

Yes this is needed ! I've tried explaining to players that Emc isn't a towny server at times.

  5. Changed the Town Room message portal signs to reflect info about this not being a Towny server as people may be used to seeing them. The information about player bases is available in the frontier room already as much as it needs to be.

Update will go out when Aikar pushes it out next.

  6. I answer this sort of question by saying that they were already a member of the Town when they joined the server.
With an advertised description like this:

Empire Minecraft is a survival server with a very unique town, wild and economy system. Each player in gets their a 60x60 protected residence in our very organized town world. Each residence is automatically protected to JUST that player until they give permissions to others, should they choose to, leaving our town completely grief free by default.

it seems to me that anyone seeing it and thinking, "This server uses Towny" is going to know the difference as soon as they join because they are already familiar with it. I don't think someone who may already be confused will be any less confused by reading a sign saying that EMC has Towns, but is not a Towny server.

Some players will always ask things like how do I find a place to build, how to make a shop, how to make a teleport, ask for op, ask for a job, want to mine in town then ask where they can mine, no matter how many signs we put up in the tutorial.
