Far Cry: Primal

  1. I think I'm the only one who thinks this, but this game looks bloody brilliant.

Update 07/10/2015: The game will be released on February 16th, 2016, and sometime the following month for PC. From what I can tell, there's no word on a Mac or Linux release.

  2. 0/420 - Needs more snippars.

It looks great but, it needs guns. Meh, we'll see how it plays out. Maybe there's some cool melee combat in this as I could kinda see in the trailer. Not to mention, this is only a spinoff? So it hopefully won't tie into the original FarCry storyline (kinda how Blood Dragon did.)
    • A game does not need guns to be good. The main focus of the game is approaching different situations however you want in large, open worlds that look beautiful. Plus, the main weapon most players use is the bow - something Primal has.
    • Melee combat will be probably be infinitely improved from Far Cry 4's, seeing as it is obviously the main way of combating enemies.
    • Yes, this is a spinoff.
    • All Far Cry games exist in their own universe, I'm pretty sure.
  3. This is really cool just this is one of the reasons mammoths died out.
  4. I didn't say it needs guns to be good, no guns would feel odd in a Far Cry game.

  5. Not sure I like where it's going (I always enjoyed the shooting / sniping and machine guns in the game) but I do applaud them for finally getting the "Far Cry cycle" back on track. Meaning: Far Cry 2 was totally different from Far Cry 1. Three was totally different from two.

Four on the other hand was, in my opinion, basically a repeat of three. Which in itself was already a game I didn't really care for too much. I enjoyed playing it, but I still think 2 was much better and far more challenging.

SO yeah, with that in mind I think it's a good thing that they're finally going to release something which is once again completely different than the version before it. It might not really appeal to me (I want machine guns darn it!) but I do applaud them for bringing the brand tradition back on track.
  6. We can bring them back. Eventually. We do want to use cloning to save other, more important species first though that are on the verge of extinction :p
I love the idea of playing as cavemen. I've wanted a game like this for so damn long. I also like the idea of no guns - it makes you feel a little bit defenceless :p

Now that it's coming from a big name, a big franchise... I have high hopes, even if Far Cry 4 was a little bit crap and Ubisoft have not had a good track record over the last year.

On the 'being different' note, I completely agree with you. Far Cry 4 felt like Far Cry 3, just set in the Himalayas with the ability to shoot from cars while sitting in one. It wasn't innovative, unlike Far Cry and Far Cry 2 :p

  7. I'm not completely sold on this. I don't quite see what this is beyond being a hunting simulator.

I really liked Far Cry 4 and I want to see what they can do to further improve that over what they did to far cry 3.

  8. TIL the game comes out in February for consoles... :p
  9. Looks ace so far, albeit a little bit buggy - which I can completely forgive right now, because it's an alpha version.

Also, another trailer - if you haven't seen it yet.
