Making rupees is something new and experienced players alike struggle with. Today I will be giving you a few tips that have helped me out in the past. I won’t reveal all my secrets of course, but you may learn a thing or two 🙂
Identify and Collect Valuable Promotional Items
Every now and then, limited edition Promos are released. Some of these are fairly useless (such as the Cupid Bow), but some are extremely handy (think Ore Busters or Turkey Slicers). While all the promos are undoubtedly cool and fun to have, try to think practically; Will I ever use this? If the answer is yes, start buying them from other players. You will need to store them at the very least until the promo is over to sell for any profit, but I recommend keeping them for a while, maybe months. The longer you wait, the more rupees someone will pay for it.
Participate in Events
Staff hosted events are always fun opportunities to interact with the community, one of the core principals EMC runs on. Also, there are prizes! Firefloor and Creature Capture are quick and the prizes are reasonable. In Creature Capture, a pool of 100,000 rupees has been known to be divided to members of the winning team.
Play Mob Arena (to win)
Mob Arena is another good source of income; however, it can also be a lottery. If you decide to play in Mob Arena, either go all out or don’t bring ANYTHING of value in with you. It’s a big gamble to play as you could lose all your hard-earned gear, but if you come out on top the Winner’s Room is filled with goodies. For normal rounds, you will usually not receive a cash prize, but there is almost always Marlix gear and Nether Stars which can be sold for rupees. No item rounds are a free try; you lose nothing and stand a reasonable chance of winning.
Sell Stuff
Yep, plain as that. Find something that is always in demand (wood, sand, or stone for example) and jump on it! Make a little shop and advertise on the forums. Try and set your prices on the cheap side so people will buy, but not so cheap that you will be constantly out of stock. Overly cheap prices may also allow others to sell your goods for their profit, which is generally not good.
Farm Mobs
Mob farming is a fast way to get valuable drops, which translates quickly into rupees. Though it is not an intended part of the game and frowned upon by some, it makes wonderful economical sense; spend a little bit of effort now for infinite drops in the future. Iron and gold farms are especially lucrative. Most hostile mobs in Minecraft have several different mob designs with different levels of complexity and scales. If you don’t know how to make one, look it up!
That’s all for now. Just follow a few of these steps and profit will soon follow!
