  1. Just the parkour trial.

  2. Unoski told me that there's no extra rewards for finishing the trials first, so loop in your friends! Everyone who likes puzzles, gather around!
I have a thorough map of the northeast quadrant of the aqua-tube trials... xD Maybe next week, I can get the northwest quadrant xD

  3. I was so interested in this, and now I'm not inclined to play it... I guess it's clear how little interest in playing Minecraft I have anymore. :p I might at least have a look, tomorrow!

  4. Ah, well, you'll only see the bureaucratic trial if you aren't going to solve anything >.>

  5. Player-made mazes are a fantastic idea. They foster continued creativity and effort, and nurture community. I applaud you for this project, and hope to attempt your mazes one day! I remember when parkour was a thing among new players.

I agree with 607, certificates should contain maze nume and revision number. I also think it might be a cool suggestion to staff that maybe some mazes that are "verified" by staff like casinos are could have a colored item name. A sig from the maze creator is great, but having the colored name for a display wall would be amazing! Best of luck to you!

  6. If staff would like, I can show them the answer key. All mazes are indeed solvable. I think Steaming is working on one maze for about a week now.

  7. >.> well, i only worked on it for 3 days. I don't have much free time, so next time i continue the aquatubes will probably be thursday.

  8. Ahem...
perhaps I mapped out the aquatube trials wrong, the smallest detail which blocked all of my progress...
But according to my map, there is no solution to it, and so I've hit a wall of frustration and disappointment that I do not see myself overcoming anytime soon...
and I will be taking a break from these trials.

Good luck to you all. If Unoski allows me to, I can freely share my diagram/solution of the Bureaucratic Trial and the failed map of the Aqua-Tube Trial. belac555 has the solution to the Dice Trial, which he shared with me (in exchange for the bureaucratic solution) but which I refuse to share without his permission. I also am not allowing belac to share my map of the bureaucratic trial, at least until I decide that I will be sharing mine publicly.

As for the Vertical Trial, it's a standard maze (but vertical), so I didn't map it out. I solved it the way that I solve any standard maze xD

  9. I hear you steamingfire. These trials were not meant to be without challenge. You are completely free to share any clues, answer keys, and maps you have of my trials. I constructed them I wish you all the best to conquer them, whether teamwork is used or not.

I will let you all know that every part of the aqua tube trial was built with a purpose. When it was originally constructed, mancub and I debated on whether it is too hard or not. Originally we had it set to "impossible" mode where no hints were given to the path you are supposed to take. Mancub told me that it was just plain too hard. So I made it easier without changing the path. There was no way I was to change the correct path. That would require hours of replanning. However, it is still a serious challenge. But it is completely possible. I just did it thanks to my answer key. Messed up the first time I tried but got it on the second.

The aqua-tube trial was created because I loved the image of players going up and down tubes in a maze. So I made that. In order for that to happen, I had to allow players to travel through a lot of aqua-tubes. I can do that by either blocking off pathways or using one-way doors. One-way doors seemed more challenging and it was another maze idea I wanted to fiddle with. So I combined a 3D maze with a loops and trap maze. And thus the horror had begun.

I originally started with 9 aqua-tubes. I decided it was too small so I increased it to 256 aqua-tubes. Too big? Yes. So now I had to create a pathway. Also disperse the aqua-tube directions enough to allow me to snake a path around. I decided on a grid pattern for the up/down pathways. Each grid block being 2x2 aqua tubes. There's a hint to make it easier to map.

Now I had to create a path. That's easy. Let's zig this way then zag that way, then zip up and plummet down! So much fun. Maybe I'll have the path fold back on itself? Maybe not. Maybe so? Who knows? But one thing's for sure, this is an exciting part of this maze. Easy, too.

Okay so I want players to follow THIS specific path to win and no other path. I need to change some pathways to ensure people can't aimlessly appear onto the correct pathway again when they stray. I gotta look up, down, left, right, forwards, and back to make sure you can't stumble here on accident. Alright, alter the correct path to allow that and it's fixed. And now every branching pathway is built.

So the main line and the immediate lines are built. I don't want to create a lot of "return to home" marks. I want people to be able to find their way back. So I create several key paths that lead back to home. Some of these key paths need to cross over the correct path to return home. Now I need to replan the main line to allow that to happen. Fix this. Fix that. Fix it all.

So now that is complete. I just spend the rest of the time creating random directions for people to travel in, making sure they can always go home. Hours and hours disappear.

So I finished the blueprints. I painstakingly place every pressure pad, every trapdoor, every bit of water. I send mancub through the correct path to test it. I test it myself. I test it again. I test it today. Everything works.

And so the aqua-tube trial stands. Undefeated and relentless in its difficulty. I took the difficulty down from a 10/10 to a 7/10. Though of course if we're saying this maze is currently a 7/10, that makes the second hardest maze a 1/10.

Now I am not sure what the goal here is. Do I let this trial stand as a roadblock to current and future players? Do I make it easier? Do I grant a 500,000r reward to the first player to complete every trial? I'm not sure. But thinking it over, I do not want to willingly change any of the trials any time soon.

    So I tell everybody here:
The first player to conquer the Smooth Stone Trials this year stands to win 500,000r.

I will have this offer stand until the end of march. Then I will rethink the amount. You may split the amount with others. It is just an incentive to beat it. Work together. Work alone. Just conquer the beast.

  10. It's good to know that it was built correctly. But it means that my map is wrong, and it's probably one tiny mistake that i made when i started to get tired late at night. This means that i would have to go back through nearly every tube again, just to find my one mistake. This one mistake was fatal for me.

I have nothing against your trials. I encourage everyone to try them. It is my own fault that i made a mistake in my map, and it's my own problem that i won't be fixing it to try again.

Since there's a 500k reward now, i won't be sharing my diagrams. The aquatube trial is by far the hardest and so withholding my diagrams will probably do nothing to slow down the worthy. And on the other hand, if you cannot solve the trials that lead up to the tubes--if you cannot even get to the start of the aquatubes on your own--then you are not worthy :p

May the best player win >_>

  15. Say what you’d like about my volunteers, but we managed to cut down the time to just 6 hours with their help.

This is the most efficient way we could think of.
