  1. Thanks for clarification, haha. I was completely "derp" when I read it because there was no proper connection made, he just continued a conversation that only he was aware of at the moment...

    Much like this:
"and that is the first time I ever got stuck in the bum."
Without proper context prior to this, you are not aware that this is the second half of someone telling about a penicillin shot... It will make your brain go insane trying to understand the proper context if you don't ask... :)
  2. Would a mining group be considered a "group", i.e. a group of people who like to mine together and split the loot?
  3. I think so.
  4. I have sent one in :)
  5. So I have applied it's finished
  6. Groups/clans are not groups of friends that go out and play/mine together. It is more the public groups that recruit people and have their own rankings and advertise in the forums for their group/clan, etc. etc.
  7. Best part about it that he said it twice :p

  8. Ah, thats what I thought.

So teamwork is allowed, just not formal groups.
  9. Staff must remain impartial. By being excluded from official groups, such as the well known Delta Team, you avoid encountering a situation that may put your integrity into question based on your affiliation. It is the same as being a leader in the Military or in a management position in a business, you can not be overly friendly to your soldiers or employees. This is to avoid giving the impression of favoritism...
That does not mean that we can not be kind to others, we just can not form alliances that will jeopardize our trustworthiness or give the impression of such an act.
We are chosen to represent the entire community, not select groups within the community.

  10. Very understood, and, after applying I thought this in my head. "Do I really need to be Moderator? It's still an awesome server that can be had fun on, and how badly Moderators are treated, being asked questions." And, I'm too young to be a Green Lantern. So, don't beg for Moderator guys is kinda what I'm trying to say.
  11. ^^^ Exactly. My view is that it's really only for people with thick skin, cause like many jobs of importance, you make decisions that affect a large number of people, most of whom feel free to criticize your decisions without respecting you or the thought process that went into making the decision. Granted, I wouldn't know, but it's just my view.
  12. This is true. I would say that you have to be very thick skinned to be a moderator. Anyone that you kick/temp-ban/ban is not going to be impressed, and most likely will question your decisions. You have to stay confident of the decisions you have made and not let their cries deter you. Not everyone is going to respect you and what you do for the community, but that is just part of the job. New members so keen to be a moderator must know that with more power comes more responsibility and moderating is not an easy job that you can do when you feel like. Plus you should have the skills to be able to formulate well-structured sentences/arguments as you will be faced with situations when people will lie to you and try outsmart you. Of course, all of our staff cannot be outsmarted :) That's my view of it all, anyway.
  13. ^^^ Agreed, I wish that some people would realize all the baggage that comes with the job.
  14. I totally agree. Obviously people don't appreciate being banned or kicked, and with every ban and kick it can create more tension and make people more desperate to take drastic actions including false claims. Most times they are fake but it can create a bad rep for a Mod and they above everyone else try to make the Empire the fairest and most enjoyable place that it can be, and it is not fair that they get a bad rep sometimes because they have to be stern and show the community that it is not right or just to break the rules.
  15. This is exactly why it requires a certain personality to be a Staff Member. :)
It is a very tense position and without the proper skill and maturity required, it would cause an intensely terrible scar on the EMC community.
If you are chosen as a moderator, you fit the appropriate requirements to represent the Empire and if you are not chosen, you may still qualify as a wonderful member of our community in an other form of contribution.
We have many MOD programmers, Artists (Skin, Texture Pack, etc.), Map Makers, Video recorders, Contest coordinators, etc.
Being a member of the Staff is only one of the many ways you can contribute to the community in a positive manner.
Also, just by utilizing our servers you are validating our existence and that is sufficient. :)
  16. Exactly. There are NOT two kinds of players. There are more kinds of players than Mods and regular players.
  17. Without the thousands of great players here on EMC there would be no need for the Staff members to take any action at all in making it the best place to play Minecraft. However, we are gifted with one of the more robust supporting communities around, driving us staff members to make our best effort in keeping your game more enjoyable. If everyone had what it took to be a moderator, then there would be no need for them. If there were no players, I would see no reason for me to even be around. I love my position simply because even if I have to deal with 10 horrible players a day or more, I know that there is at least 1 player who is having the time of his life on this server, as cheesy as it sounds.

Many nights I stare at the computer screen pulling my hair out, and continue to do what I do, to make EMC better, not for any perks, pluses, positions, ranks, pleasure, recognition, or gifts. Its because I take comfort in the fact that in the end I help a place that is already great become better, one kick, tempban, ban at a time. And the road is most definitely not always easy. Not everyone is appreciative, but I never ask for thanks, because its my job to be an unseen authority. I enforce the rules as quickly and as invisible as possible, to help keep nothing but fun running through the servers.
  18. Well I give my thanks to you!
