Sorry don't have a screen shot. I was standing on a flat plane of mixed glass and glowstone. I believe neither is permitted for mob spawns, regardless that the light level was 14. A single zombie spawned directly on top of a glowstone block about 4 blocks from me. Not a big deal, it was facing the other way.
Yeah, normal green zombie, no villagers. (Ocean biome). I'm guessing the server tried to spawn him somewhere else, then changed it's mind after doing the light checks. Like maybe there is a dark hole in the ground nearby, then the server chose a different spot in the chunk to put him. I don't know the code, just trying to guess what might cause the server to bypass the usual spawning checks.
