More slots would only slow down the servers. If they were too slow because of slots, no one would want to play. Justin could then lower the slots. More people would want to play. The cycle would continue forever! As to more servers, EMC needs more supporters in order to get the hardware and keep it running. $5 a month gives you a guaranteed spot, and helps get new servers and maintain the others. Two birds with one stone! You get on whenever and EMC grows.
We (AKA Justin) are working on creating an SMP5, however this will take more time than the other servers as it is the first time where we will require a new physical server to store the data on. This complicates the situation and increases the time between server launches. Expect it in two weeks or so, but until then you should just support! It's the easiest solution.
