Hey EMC, Have you ever made a Road edit, and you have used a bunch of blocks? Say, 4 beacons, 10 stacks of Lapis blocks.. etc This suggestion is to make it so when you remove objects on your builds you will get the items that where placed.... You may say, you do, but I just got a road edit removal and new roads placed, to fit the updated build design, and SS said that you dont get them back.... ~Finch
The issue with this comes from multiple areas, the 2 primary ones being these: 1) SS would have to count every single block in a copy/paste in order to give you those blocks back. This takes time and since SS services are based on time, we would have to raise the cost back up to cover this. 2)Documentation of who gave the blocks in the first place. Some players do a road edit and work together to build it. Who then do we officially give the items back to if they were to decide that they didn't want to be friends/neighbors anymore? Sometimes road edits are in place when a new player takes over the residence. We would have to track if the items were theirs or not before being able to give them back. We don't go through and log exactly what items are in each road edit and who requested it, because as mentioned above, that takes time and time = ss service cost increase.
If room is available on the players res could SS just copy the road on to the res? That why they can break the blocks themselves? I guess this option would only fit road edits between same owned residences.
I understand, But there can be easy Fixes to certain things... Such as.... You can maybe to a Block count before they do anything with the roads, with World edit, Same type of thing for the Schematica Mod... Maybe do it to only Valuables such as ore's, Beacons, etc... Also, can be an Additional Option for an additional cost if the players wish to get the items back, but does not have to happen on the spot, can happen within a time frame of say a week for example? Just some suggestions to build on what you said....
The other problem. Is that there is zero documentation of road edits. This builds off of Krysyy's point in the fact that there is no guarantee that the blocks in the road are even legit. I have seen road edits that a senior staff just set all blocks 4x60x63 between two residences as a single block. Possibly collecting only the amount for the walls, since this policy has been in place since at least the wiki page existed. (Not a new policy). There is simply no paper trail. And we really need to give the same service/opportunities to all players. Therefore, it isn't feasible.
