Now, players do come up with great suggestions sometimes and I don't think they should be automatically denied due to being banned. They obviously care about the community enough to suggest stuff, let alone come to the forums still. But any ways, here are some ideas that I do believe are a good suggestion since I'm not a banned member: ANTI-Grief Update Needed TLC I went on a rant in a pm to a certain individual, I wont list his name but I told major issues with the ANTI-Grief update. I express issues with him and how fundamentals of the anti-grief is ridiculous. These are the ideas which I am TRYING to fix it, you can all add your points in it as well 1. Build Function only toggled on and off by player. You as a player is Current system: Build mode is shut off when you leave frontier or logout. 2. Permanent Vouches: Set a certain individual to be your voucher permanently, list of permanent vouches can be looked over and edited via "/vouch list". To add permanent vouches "/vouch perm (Playername)" Only temporary vouches can be made via "/vouch temp (Playername)" for the 30 minute time Current system: /Vouch (Playername) with a 30 minute time 3. Bringing back the "Locked" signs for specialty items and removing Anti-grief plugin from the wastelands. When I hear the Wastelands, I think of the apocalyptic areas which Mad Max is in. YOU are liable for damages and other items that you bring out there. Wasteland isn't for building and it should stay that way. If you want to build, there is a massive world of what we call "The Frontier" There are questions needed to be answered before I add more to my suggestions. For example, How is the anti-grief going to connect to Empires? Will all the players, including the non-playing players need to vouch to build a empire? What will be the policy? That can come in a new time. Announcements I don't know about you, but the announcements can be a little tedious repeating information that was made about a year ago. Why not put it in a nice list? Uses /announcement lists out all the current news. Removes chat spam caused by the announcements I also want to add a Alert ping for unclaimed /promo items and unread /announcement news so you know your up to date. This can be on a timer to ping you every half hour for any unclaimed promo or announcement not read. These are great ideas and I don't feel it's right that you didn't even take time to consider them because the player who originally suggested them was banned. Just because he was repeditly was banned does not mean staff can treat him as an outcast, he means well and is trying to help whether you believe it or not. Now, since this is a valid suggestion be sure to leave constructive criticism below. Thanks for reading!
I was still in the process of editing most of my ideas before I found out "You can't edit this anymore" poped up on my screen. Not going into a rant about staff because I already had enough of the joke, I get the same meme over and over again. Build Function can be toggled only by player input. That means, you are responsible for turning it off or on. Current system: Build mode is shut off when you leave frontier or logout. Must keep turning it back on.
I can understand frequent spam for events, etc but I have to agree with the normal announcements. Maybe for the first week have them like normal, then afterwords have them show far less. Either that or an option to dismiss any future announcements of the same thing once you'd confirmed you've seen it. And this can be allowed after a week it's initial release. Sometimes, especially when it's a busy month, it can become very annoying. It's not that it's not important it's just I've read the news and no longer need reminders of it.
Actually I agree with Krysyy on that one. Because it seems a bit illogical to me that players who cannot play the game themselves can still suggest things which affect all players of that game. All players but themselves that is. And lets be honest: if they have an alt account which is still allowed to play then all they'd need to do is use that to make their suggestions. I know from personal experience that staff doesn't mind players to use alts for this. Err, I mean... A friend told me about that! So what's the problem? -1 from me. The #1 annoyance (as far as I know) with the anti-grief system right now is people placing blocks which others then find but cannot remove. Note: this isn't always with ill intentions in mind. But Aya told me that the maintainers of the SMP8 PWU often have to cope with repairs which were done with the best of intentions (no one questions that!) but when PWU members were ready to make final repairs they couldn't because... You guessed it. I can't help fear that this could only increase those annoyances drastically because now everything gets protected if you're not careful. Because, let's be honest: if you now already forget to turn it this on, then isn't it also likely to assume that you're also going to forget to turn it off again? The only thing we need here is a chance in mindset: use /buildmode before building. This already exists using the friends list. When you add someone as your friend they can remove your blocks. And if you don't want to give all your friends this kind of access then you can even toggle this individually: /fr blockbreak <name> on/off. If you use this with the /ps system then you can pretty much finetune this to your hearts desire, even on a per-server level if you want to. Would it be possible that the original suggesting player didn't know because they don't play the game? -1 from me as well. The locked signs never went away from the waste, and quite frankly I seriously enjoy the extra protection I have. Now I can build mining operations and don't end up seeing them griefed after a few weeks time (In all honesty I have to admit that this only happens with things I build close to spawn and even then only when I "overdo" things a bit (like building a large glass "dome-like" thingie)). Griefing has never been allowed in the wastelands anyway. The only difference now is that the system prevents you from doing that, so what's the problem? You shouldn't have been messing with those buildings in the first place. As to that Mad Max reference: no offense but how often do you head out to the wastelands? Because quite frankly the areas I'm often in look exactly like that: mad max, sometimes you need to parkour to get back to the outpost and often risk to drop into some huge craters. Always fun: falling into a crater, closely followed by a creeper and having no way to reach the protected zone Even more fun when a friend close by then funnily says: "shouldve worn god armor!" Sorry but I don't see the problem here. +1 Or give us more control over it. In this case I do agree with you about being accountable for your own actions. Right now I'm getting a little tired of those endless "illegal mods" warnings, especially because I play on vanilla. I'm not annoyed with them, but I also wouldn't mind seeing them go away -1 for promo alerts from me. It is a bit ironic but those alerts are already send out using the announcements which you wanted to control / regulate in the previous point I think the staff does an amazing job right now of trying to make sure that everyone gets informed about promos. Heck, if you do /promo you'll immediately see if you already claimed it or not. For me this adds to your previous comment again: being held accountable for your own actions. If you forget to use /promo even though you're constantly being told to do so (announcements & forum news) then... Sorry, that's your own fault in my opinion. I know it can be annoying. I also forgot to claim one using my alt sometimes. But hey... that's part of the game for me.
lol i suggested to staff banned players not being able to make suggestions. there used to be a banned player who would make all kinds of special mob suggestions, it clogged the forum. banned players who have more than a year of ban time and are ip banned so cant play with alts should not be able to give insight into how actual players can play the game. that being said, i do agree that anti-grief should be turned off in the wastelands. not because griefing is allowed, but because reverse griefing can happen from someone building with buildmode turned on in a place that you typically mine for resources
