I have made 3 stations near the wilderness spawn for people that play on SMP5 to use. Due to a glitch in the town world, these stations will work for you to smelt in and the fence gates will stop any zombies from breaking inside. If anyone on other SMPs need smelting stations, you can tell me to make some on that SMP here.
