Don't see this ever happening, as everyone would be able to claim four residences. Not to mention all of the other issues that could be involved.
There are 120,000 members on EMC. You pay for extra reses for a reason. If everyone has the access to several residences, the servers would all be overcrowded. Having the ability to claim a res for one day also means it cannot be unclaimed unless you go derelict or unclaim it yourself. There are about 1,500 reses on one server. At a given time, the available residences available on a server is about 40'ish to 70'ish. If a few hundred players had access to more reses, that means there would be NO space.
EMC's bills are over 4,000 USD a month. Imagine having to put up another 5 servers. The reason you pay for extra residences is not only for the perk, but to help support the server. Imagine free supporter, plus the expense of adding on 5 new servers. That is a lot. Even one is a lot to ask.
5 servers = 2kUSD for anyone who doesn't like math . I see why a trial supporter could be okay, but it's not a surprise what you get if you just read the perks list, and people wouldn't appreciate the value of actually supporting, they would just like perks, and since they already have 4 residences why do they need to support now? EMC is actually trying to cut down costs, so getting more unneeded servers would be totally illogical.
I don't think there is need for a trial. Most players get supporter because they know that they want (need?) one of the perks.
