I go through loads of dirt, and usually it ends up being used in ways that benefit everyone, from nether passages, temporary buildings, filling in ponds so they don't spill everywhere when the sand is mined, or helping to level out the ground in the wild for future buildings. If you have spare dirt you don't need, I encourage you to donate it to /v 405 on SMP1. I also pay a small amount if you have loads of it.
