How high up can grass grow?

Discussion in 'Empire Help & Support' started by Math_ap_Mathonwy, Aug 29, 2013.

  1. Is there a limit to the how many blocks up grass can grow? I put a "cloud" up over my residence at around level 190. I have two stacks of dirt next to each other in a zig-zag sort of way. In the course of a week the grass climbed up 20 blocks and now it seems stalled. Can it go higher? Would putting some torches on the sides of the stacks help?

  2. Just use Grass Blocks, they're easy to find and easy to gather.
  3. If I ever manage to create a silk touch shovel I'll do that - but in the meanwhile is it possible to do it the way I'm attemping to do it?
  4. Grass needs a light level of 9 directly above it to grow. I would do what entity suggests though, just go to your nearest mega mall and grab a few grass blocks, heck, stop by Utopia and I'll give you one right now.
  5. it should work, but the grass will only spread when the chunks are loaded, so if you go offline and no one else happens to be in the area it wont spread.

  6. Honestly, I'll give you a Silk Touch 1 Book, if you really want to have this grass grown? I don't mind, it's not much. Just let me know though. Or possibly I can put it on the shovel as well.

  7. When I myself need grass, I buy it for let me think 2r at /shop it isn't so much money ;)

  8. Thanks for all of the help and offers. I do appreciate it, but I see now how to help it grow on its own accord and I really do prefer to do things the hard way.

  10. Yep. :p
Well, I just would say, make the zig zag stair case, go 1 block out ward everytime a block is covered with shade. ;3
  11. I included a photo up there with my original question. I am not sure if what i did you would call a zigzag staircase. It is a zigzag but you can't walk up it. Anyway - it is working. The grass grows up about one block per real hour.
