Just to add to this. We've had the occasional auction like this and they can cause issues. But I was sitting there trying to get as close to 17:59:59 without going over. As the OP stated, the auction ends at 18:00. You didn't say 18:00:59 (which would mean to most people, finishes at 18:01). If I had thought for a second (a minute would have been too long) that the auction was still going, Sach and I would have probably continued bidding. Hope that helps.
