Tinted Glass is a new 1.17 specialty item. Crafted with amethyst shards, it is a dark purple block that can be broken by hand. When used, it is translucent, but block all light from passing.

This means that, for a mob farm, mobs can be inside, but will be unaffected by exterior day/night cycles. Furthermore, for dark room spawners, you can easily view inside the spawning area with tinted glass, making this an excellent choice for large scale farms.

Below, you can see an example farm using Tinted Glass that allows for full visibility as well as full functionality. Using Tinted Glass gives your mob farm an appealing aesthetic.
