  1. So I recently deactivated my facebook account for various reasons and I realized I only really log into facebook out of sheer boredom. Truth is I have important things I need to be doing in my life and facebook is a distraction. I still have other platforms but it got me curious which platforms folks on here use.

(and yes, I'm fine with EMC and minecraft being a distraction for me)

  2. I solely use Facebook and that's it. Most of the people on there are family or real life friends anyways and I don't post things fairly often. I prefer anonymity, like this, you all know me as Shadow and that's how I like it. When people don't know who you are (or your age, this being the only other place it's barely known) it allows for better conversations I feel.
  3. I have a Facebook to browse memes, for Messenger, and for family stuff. Sometimes when I want to feel popular I write a status (most recently I gave humorous reasons to vote for the Labour Party in the UK's election on June 8th) and bathe in the likes I get. Other than that, it's an awfully designed website and some of the stuff Facebook is doing I'd rather just completely evade it. It also makes me feel inferior to other people when I see them hanging out on weekends and stuff - sometimes I even go on some sort of superiority trip over some people because they post things that just make them look stupid and makes it look like nobody likes them. I hate it.

I have an Instagram to browse when I get bored, get sent memes, and to look at hot people.

I've got a few close friends on Snapchat who I send stupid stuff to. Not a fan of having The Sun, which is banned where I live because it said that people from where I live are savages and accused us of stealing from the dead at the Hillsborough disaster - among other things, and the Daily Mail (who supported Hitler and British Fascist groups in the 30s and 40s and continue to peddle hate speech) staring at me in the face with articles to get them down with the kids on the discover page. I quite like the National Geographic and other related things on there though. Sometimes I even like some of Buzzfeed's stuff (which is weird because I loathe Buzzfeed). Other than that... don't care.

I use Reddit and Twitter to a point of near obsession though. If you count YouTube (although I don't comment or upload or anything), that too.

Other than that, not a big fan of social media.
  4. I have a Facebook account that I don't use. (its main purpose was Farmville when I was like 10)

I use Twitter constantly, but not to look at other people's idiotic attention-grabbing selfies. I use it to keep up with things I care about, mainly computer science, technology, and space.

I use Snapchat to talk to my close friends, and again, not to post/look at dumb selfies. I'll post on my story if I feel like showing off something I saved up for or something. (Gotta love those I'm-going-75-down-the-freeway selfies)

I have an Instagram, but I hardly use it at all. I go on the app maybe once a day.
  5. The only "social media" platforms I use are the EMC forum and youtube. I have an instagram account which I have never used (only made to stalk my sister :p )
  6. At one time I had both a business Twitter and Facebook account and well... didn't really see the use nor fun of it all. Not to mention that from a commercial perspective Twitter is much more transparent that Facebook because, as a company, I could still participate in discussions and talks which was impossible with Facebook... unless you paid them more money of course.

Right now I don't use any social media at all (unless youtube & imgur count for that as well) and I can't say that I think to be missing out on anything :)
