And the power strip I use is like from 2005 and is not connected directly to the wall outlet but from a cable that is connected to the wall outlet with 2 others things already connected to it.
I overcharged a socket by having an extension cable plugged into it that had a PS2, a trillion plugs and my laptop in it, on top of another extension cable that lead to my axolotl tank. I plugged a hoover in one day and it stopped working for a few days :P
I'm going to get a new power strip soon that will just come directly out of the wall and I'll plug everything into that. I'll probably get one of the ones with surge protection and a backup battery, which will be useful if the power flicks off for a few seconds or so.
