He's fine. He's just not very active at the moment, and he's stopped bleeding. He can't use the leg though, so just for safety purposes, I may have to amputate it D:
There's atleast one left in the wild, and millions in captivity. A little broken/ripped off leg won't kill them. If you were to rip off one of their legs, they'd grow it back completely in 3 weeks.
Actually, if axolotls are extinct in the wild, they're completely extinct. Axolotls in captivity are the results of cross-species breeding in labs, so they aren't really A. Mexicanum. Just 'axolotls' with the colours of other salamanders - hence why they can't breed with wild axolotls and spread diseases to them.
