The name of an anime/manga about a humanoid computer (called a persocom) name chi and a male student. The name has no real meaning that i can see other than being a mix of"cho" meaning extra-ordinary and bits being a reference to data or technology.
Chobits are a legendary series of persocoms in the Manga series, which are rumored to be capable of having free will and emotions. Chi is one of these Chobits and is capable of working without an operating system, which she actually seems to have rebuilt herself from scratch. The Manga series was written by the 4-woman team Clamp. It takes place in the same universe as another Clamp series, Angelic Layer.
