What GPU do you have? I know they changed the system requirements in 1.17 to use a newer OpenGL version.

For the time being, make sure you're launching with 1.16.5 and not 1.17. That solution will not work forever.

Hi WitherDoggie, I checked what GPU my computer has and it is a 'Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset', and according to Google, it is pretty ancient by today's standards!

I checked the link that WaffleCoffee had posted (thank you btw)
and I guess I'll have to end up biting the bullet and upgrading to a brand new computer if I want to continue playing Minecraft in the near future :-(

It's a shame as I've had my computer for 5/6 years and it has ran very well, especially for Minecraft and for things like music production and video editing (for an 'ancient computer', suprising, I know! lol)

Thank you for your reply Waffle, I will load up Minecraft either this evening or tomorrow morning and try it on 1.16.5 and let you know the outcome, hopefully it should work....for now

Yeah your chipset runs OpenGL 2.0 according to the specs sheet. Minecraft 1.17 requires OpenGL 4.4.
