buy a usb mic for $25 and use my headset to hear things and that to talk. I know it isnt a headset issue because I tried 3 different ones. Stupid computer things make me mad...
I went overboard and bought a blue yeti microphone. Although it's good, it's $145. The yeti snowball has good quality, for a much cheaper price. If you're willing to spend a little more, for one that will last you a long time, I can drop some other suggestions below.
I have the SteelSeries arctis 7. They work great. They are wireless for both audio and microphone. Just plug the receiver into a USB port and you're good to go.
Not sure why the other 2 headsets I tried did not work, but well and ur gonna laugh at me but... my Astro A40s werent working because well... I had them muted... xD rofl.
