It makes sense though, celebrities are well known and a lot of people know and care about them. Also there's a higher quantity of marines than celebrities out there, so to report it every time it happens would be an over saturation.
I could continue, but I'd rather not
jay2a it doesn't make sense, a marine (or any branch of the military) is more important than a celebrity. without a military, America isn't safe. #makeamericasafeagain
But the news is usually more about significance than importance, unfortunately. And I feel like the death of a marine or anybody in the military for that matter is only important to friends and family, or just people they knew personally. Because honestly, not many people care about someone they never knew
I don't think you're getting what I'm saying, but then again, I might not be saying it well. I can't continue the discussion right now because I'm busy, but I'd be happy to continue later in a PM
just going to add onto this real quick: Pretty much everyone knows celebrities. Even if you aren't familiar with their work, you'll probably have at least heard their names, which means it's much more newsworthy. On the other hand, most people don't know the names of many marines, meaning that the news isn't important to many people, unless they died in some big catastrophe or under strange circumstances.
