Mhm. It does. That whole album makes me sick to my stomach now, just because of what it seems like it was in retrospect. Want to know something else that infuriates me like nothing else? The sheer amount of hatred that was thrown their way for those songs because they weren't like Meteora or Hybrid Theory.
And there are plenty of people who were commenting with things urging him/them to do it... Perhaps some of their loyal "fans" may have even had a hand in it.
And unfortunately, cries for help seem to only be noticed once it's too late. I've never really been a "fan" of them, but there are a few of their songs I liked.
I'm just still in shock imagining this process: he's encouraged to write this song, perhaps even hoping his co-songwriters or other professionals he works with to ask if something's wrong. But they don't. And then, because the song is different from what the fans are expecting, there is severe backlash.
Suddenly, it becomes clear nobody is listening for that well hidden cry for help. "I can whisper, I can yell, but I know, yeah I know, I'm just talking to myself."
