Its nothing personal. You become a company liability if you are injured and are found to be younger than the legal working age. Thus they don't want to be sued for many different reasons if any situation arises. It does stink to suddenly be kicked out of work but I'm sure if you were a good employee they would gladly take you back once you are of age.
That stinks but it is what it is. The Fair Labor Standards Act prohibits any official, non-agricultural work for anyone under the age of 14 in the U.S. Most states have regulations which push that age even higher. Don't let that get you down, though. Summer work provided invaluable learning experiences for me as a teenager and I hope you'll choose to pursue similar opportunities when the appropriate time comes.
lol what I couldn't find a job last year when I was 16, I can't imagine ever being employed at 15. Like, Hell, even now I'm not allowed to work in retail until I'm 18.
At least they let you work there for a day before realising their mistake. I just got rejected before even being offered an interview.
