The DNC failed to protect itself from what Americans hate about our political system: politics as usual. Clinton was a part of a hated system, and while it doesn't make her a bad candidate, she became associated as part of the problem. Ignoring her scandals and other issues, the public became tired of the illegitimacy of politicians.

The Republican Party failed to protect itself from its own image, as backwards minded people longing for a world that never was. Trump built a campaign on fear, and telling people what they wanted to hear rather than what they needed to hear. The nation will move forward on social rights issues, because history proves that we always do.

Trump will stain the Republican party for decades. The Republicans won this election, but will be blamed for a messy Congress and a truly awful presidency. The Democrats lost this election, but the stain Trump will create will be a selling point for decades to come. If Clinton won, the opposite would have been true. This election was one to lose, as the defeated was destined to come out the most honorable.

The loser today was everyone. The flaws of the party system and a fixed election were exposed and overcome, whether it was for the better or worse. The Democrats lost one election, while Trump's legacy will handicap the Republican party for a while. Trump is the fault of every politician, because he's the polar opposite of a politician. He speaks his mind, doesn't care what others think, and stands on his own values.

The status quo is the reason we suffer this fate. Few people are happy Trump is President, including Democrats and Republicans. Business as usual became so unappealing that Americans decided to throw a fit. I will mourn the loss of the Supreme Court, and maybe my father's job in clean energy, and a lot of the progress we made in the past few years. But we will move on as a country, no matter what side you supported.

There was no happy outcome in this election, and this is not to blame on the people, whether you like him or not. Can anyone blame you for hating our system? Let's learn from this so we can maintain a genuine Government. He is making America great again, but not through his policies. He woke us up to how horrible the system is. How he will be seen as a President is not known yet, but he will be influential for sure.

TL;DR Trump was inevitable, the Democrats will be hurt less than the Republicans in the long run, and this is a wakeup call.
