Today I logged in to find that my wife's primary alt character had gone derelict the hard way. Yes, I know the rules, and I get the "That's the way the cookie crumbles" baloney (as it feels at the moment, please take sarcasm with a grain of salt...still processing this debacle). The initial problem occurred with her forgetting her password after using another computer and not being able to log into Minecraft altogether. We were attempting to at least vote for the character with some relative success at least once every 6 days....But somewhere in the past couple of weeks we missed a vote My family and I have been a part of the Empire for over 3.5yrs now, and are avid supporters at a regular rate of 3 Gold and 1 Diamond supportership every month. Yea, I know.. I am splurging on myself with that diamond, but was compelled to support more, and it helps the older guy not have to maintain a shop like my daughter does So, my first thought was maybe there could be an ALT registry that could help determine if primary players were still active, but this felt as if I were grasping at straws, and then I thought about if there were one then maybe the fact your main is a supporter could give you some sort of benefit. My mind was racing over all the potential ups and downs of this situation, taking in the loss of 4 residences, which thank goodness didn't have much on them, but did still contain some promos and important stuff. As I have been writing this, I think I remembered a prior suggestion of some kind of alert that would allow one to be notified if their account was about to go derelict. This might be handy if you could select notifications sent to your main, but I can see both sides to all of these issues, and understand it is what it is. There is one thing though that I thought about that stung, and upon a quick run around my family's plots, I verified my suspicion. There are numerous residences scattered all around that in my mind should have been more eligible to become an OPEN residence prior to my wife's residences. The sheer fact that there were even 4 residences in that name should have given her a pass over some of these : Okay, so that was just what I found running around the perimeter of my family's plots. If you look closely you will see that most all of them have been derelict for some time. Most of them have assuredly been derelict longer than my wife's residences. Regardless of the actual hair splitting of whether one res was derelict longer or not there is yet another value to consider here. In one of the pictures above there is a residence that has been derelict for 69 days, but their first Empire sign in was 1188 days ago. Odds are that this player actually participated in the Empire vs. the overwhelming majority that did not last a single day. There are 12 out of 16 derelict residences above that did not stay more than 1 day. Yet my wife's residences immediately became open? This is where I feel we need a derelict algorithm that will take into account the player's last seen date compared to the first sign-in date to determine whether or not a residence becomes open. Any of those residences that were claimed and then they left within the hour or a few hrs later, and are now derelict are the ones that should become open first. They clearly did not care to stay at all, so why not re-utilize those plots first? Maybe you guys will have some better non-frustrated insight to make this idea actually more solid. As it stands right now, I am just winging it because I wanted to address this, but really should have been in bed long ago. Gotta be at work in 4.5hrs and have not slept There is even one res that has been derelict for almost a year...just hard to comprehend. I hope this thought has been conveyed so that you the reader understand what I am suggesting. As such, I feel something along these lines could improve the quality of life for those that choose to call the Empire their Minecraft Home Yes, for those of you who analyze the pictures a bit, we dug deeper, found a way to get her logged in, and then got a Diamond Supportership on her alt to recapture 2 of the 4 residences. May have to look elsewhere to recoup those other 2, but who knows, they may also become derelict within the month I look forward to what you folks think about this suggestion as a whole and would hope something like this could help those residence who are actually associated with the Empire. The system does take what you stated into account. However, it does not take into account time since last vote for the time since play. For this reason, the account was noted as being derelict for over 4 months, and therefore was taken prior to the others. The last log-in being June 1st for specifics. In the future, if you are having an issue with a Mojang password, PLEASE message me and I can put a hold on the derelict status as they take a while to respond to support messages. Also, if you see residences that aren't resetting properly and have been derelict for AGES, please let us know because there may be something wrong with the residence that is causing it to not register in the database.
But if that's taken into account, shouldn't someone who joined 80 days ago and left 80 days ago get their residence reused before someone that joined, say, 2 years ago, and left 4 months ago?
I tried to read all that and a lot happened. I have to say the only thing that may have been missed is could this have been a force claim? I know that I have my eyes on a residence and if I ever see it roll, I'll be on it day 1. Not to be mean or anything, its location location location. Also I was pretty sure for sign in you have roughly 28 days and votes the same before you become derelict. I suppose I'm making this statement as I want to make sure I also understand how this is working if for any reason I am away or inactive.
Someone who is new to the server and leaves the same day does get a limited amount of time in comparison to the others. However, the system for that residence may not be registering properly.
