  7. No, it's not... There's no asking price in an auction... And it's a "Starting bid", which means the first bid, or first offer...

  8. Starting bid is the starting bid. First bid, premier bid, bid made first, is there any other way to describe it?

    Then you can use the increment once the starting bid has been placed.
