Who else finds the Nether Portal noise annoying?

I've been annoyed by it ever since I first played Minecraft.
Normally, I put my nether portal in the wall of my stair case leading to my mine.

Agreed, its horrible. Whats worse is that portals are so useful so im around this horrible noise all the time. I wonder if there is a way to edit it in the .minecraft folder? If someone better suited for the task than myself could figure this out I will be willing to make a nice donation

well, i dont have minecraft sound on.. so i cant say it bothers me

I could make a little tutorial on how to delete/edit the sound file for it.

I find it soothing sometimes traveling back and forth. It's a unique noise in th game.

I don't play with any sound either. And I don't have a creeper issue.

Ok perhaps an occasional chatcreeper gets me.. but thats cause i wasnt paying attention.. just chatting

I have a Cupid bow, Cupid and like five stacks of cupids arrows for you if you put that together

I don't mind the main noise it makes.... but wow, the bone crushing lower sound... I don't have words for it.

I play with muted sound so while it bothers me ( on those rare occasions when I forget to turn the sound down) I willingly take the occasional creeper death to NOT hear the sound of the Portal!!

I cannot stand Minecraft sound in general. It is the same sound every time walking, digging, mining.... It gets annoying after time for me. Protection 4 armor keeps me safe from sneaky mobs.
