Iron Farm/ Village mechanic changes over vanilla

  1. Although it's not listed in the wiki, Villagers in EMC seem to require being closer to a door to recognize/activate it for golem spawning. Normal is 16 blocks square. In my testing, 16 blocks failed. 10 blocks also failed.

Are you able to mention what the distance is in EMC? Is it 8 blocks? I know since one of my designs work, it has to be at least 7.

  2. If you built this in town, is because golems cant spawn in town. If it was in frontier or waste, i dont know what your proble is.
  3. If I add more doors closer to the villagers it works. This is in the frontier.

Standard designs work (4 villager pouches) and Nim's works (has 40 doors, so a little over half are in range still), just custom designs like the Iron Swarm version that rely on normal MC rules won't function.
  4. I think the size of a village is a radius centered on the average position of all doors in that village, and the size of it also depends on the number of doors. I don't know the exact formula, but I think more doors = bigger village.
  5. I'm not sure if EMC has changed the range a villager picks up a door from vanilla. I have never built a village where a villager needed to be more than 4 or 5 blocks away.

However, a couple things of note. A villager checks for a door on the X and Z axis. If you are more than 5 blocks on the Y axis this is not a valid village and will not A. produce golems and B. breed villagers. However... if 1 villager is within 5 blocks on Y, and however many on the X and Z axis it will be a valid village.

You need a minimum of 21 doors and 10 villagers to create golems. There is an equation to increase output of golems, but I don't remember what it is anymore and cant find it. It's a villager/door ratio equation to do so.
