See the text floating in the air? I do not know what it is called, but it is pretty cool. It is currently not available for normal player, but what if this was available as a supporter perk? The idea would to add this for players to be able to use, but make it only available to supporters, or make several available to supporter and less available to non-supporters. How it should work: Depending on your supporter level or non-supporter level, you get a number of these things you can have. To add a hologram, you should use this command: /res hologram add [x] [y] [z] After that, you should get a number. For example, if that was the first one on your res, it would be number 1. If it was the 3rd, it would be 3. To add lines, the command should be: /res hologram text (line number 1-Max Number) (text) Similar to adding a res message. You can use color formats like you do on a sign or res message. To list the things you have, do this command: /res hologram list It should list the tags in order with the coords. There should also be other commands /res hologram remove all /res hologram remove # What do you guys think? It has called a hologram, used by admins at server owned residences, spawn etc. I asked Aikar some time ago if they would make it possible for a player to use holograms, at that time he was not too familiar with holograms so he would not answer my question because he did not know if it would make the server lag if all players had holograms flowing everywhere. It has been some time though; I cannot wait to see what he says to this. It would be a lovely feature, 1+ from me.
Spoilerz; but the hologram system in place actually uses in-game books as an editing interface. (Which is going to change your suggestion a bit). I know the big thing with making this a perk, is we have no idea if they will even be possible in 1.8
1.8 is the reason I didn't go the extra effort to making it a perk, but I fully do WANT to make it a perk. I think so? What i get is a horse with the text as its name, but the horse cannot be moved by anything. I am wondering if the horse is supposed to be original and then it would work, but that is what I get. Not sure if that is what you are looking for or not.
I can see two problems with this ... the texts are invisible horses set way into the sky - and their name is offset from their body...... and as horses are entities, it would include them with the res entity limit. The other issue would be lag... every layer of text is another entity...
If there is a very reasonable limit on them and if they are only for supporters, I do not see it causing too much lag.
I had them on my test server ... some time after holograms were introduced ... they dropped my fps from around 120 to 30-50 depending how many layers were spawned in the area.
I think it'd cause too much lag, since one line of text is an invisible entity. Which would also limit the number of entities you'd be allowed on your residence. I say no.
I do not expect mojang to listen to be honest. I saw a video of someone in japan make a hologram in the latest snapshot. I think it still exists, but will need to be heavily modified.
