  1. So, last night, me and a couple of friends went to go see the new movie: Divergent. I thought I would make a thread so we could get some discussion on it. My opinion was that it was a great movie, but they forgot or butchered some parts that were pretty important. One of them was when Tris's mom helps Tris escape. From the book, Tris's mom finds Tris in a room with Tris in the tank of water. However, in the movie, Tris's mom finds her in the Abnegation residential area.

Another part I found that was not right was how Tris's father dies. In the book, he dies in the laboratory where Tobias is being kept. In the movie however, he dies just outside that room. It is those kind of details that movie makers need to get right to make the movies that much better.

Now on to the parts that were left out or not as big of a part to the story line as they were to the book. One of these is when Edward gets his eye gouged out by Peter with a dull spoon. As far as I know, I couldn't even recognize Edward if he was even there. Another part that was not gone into as much detail as I should have been was the whole story with Al. In the book, Al is heard crying while sleeping in the Dauntless barracks. In the movie, this is not mentioned at all! They also didn't go into as much detail as they should have when he commits suicide after realizing that he would not have made it through the initiation at Dauntless.

Now, if you haven't read any of these books, I highly suggest you do. They go in order as Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant as the last one. Now, there will be a poll at the top of this thread ^ and I want you to tell me if you have read at least the first book and/or seen the movie.

    Thanks!

  2. I wasn't a huge fan. I read the first two books and then I just couldn't finish the third one. I hated it.
  3. why couldn't you finish the third one? I loved the third one, but when I read the ending, I was like
  4. I really don't know why. It was a few months ago. Maybe I'll try it again sometime.
  5. I would, that book just completes the whole series and explains everything
  6. Just wanted to add to this, after I read the ending, I just went into a dark corner and cried for 3 hours.

I thought the movie was great, but when it is based off a good book, we are spoiled by said book, and sometimes fail to see how amazing the movie was. I was kinda mad about Al, but in the end, it was still a phenomenal movie, based off an even better book.

  7. I definitely agree that it was a great movie. It was just that I wanted to see those actual scenes reenacted and portrayed.
  8. Yeah, but they did a better job than the people who made Percy Jackson :p
