Problem with boats

It seems like roughly half the time I leave a boat, it becomes impossible to get back into it - it just sits there and can't be interacted with - can't even be broken with an axe.

This happens in the Wilderness and also in the Frontier. Is it a known problem?

Its just lag. I was in a boat for 20 minutes and it gave me this problem.

Yea, just reconnect and locate your boat.

I'll try it next time and see what happens.

2 ways to solve. Reconnect or if there more than one person then just switch boats or just ask the other person to break the boat for you. They can see where it is you can't.

You can tell when this has happened to you when you appear in a different place then where you exited your boat.

Ah.. so the boat isn't actually where it appears. That makes sense. Another aspect of this is that when I press Left Shift to get out of the boat, I seem to be suddenly very far away from it.
