Wheat Farm Water Is Freezing?

Discussion in 'Empire Help & Support' started by MexicanZombies, Mar 21, 2012.

  1. Okay, so I recently made a wheat farm on my property, put water where it needed to go etc.. But the water keeps freezing. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if its just a glitch or something. My wheat farm is the basic |wheat|water|wheat|water| in columns. I've filled the water columns all the way. Is it possibly because of that? I've looked up on the Minecraft Wiki and they didn't say anything about it. Basically I just want to know whats up with my water freezing, if it has any effect on my crops, and if there is any way to fix it. Thanks for the help in advance.
  2. It's because your property is in a tundra/taiga biome. Unfortunately I don't think that you can do much about this :(. Maybe try putting a lot of torches really close to the water to prevent it from freezing, other than that I'm not really sure what else could be done.
  3. Put a torch by the water and problem solved
  4. Really? I'm in the towns. I didn't know that they were set in certain biomes. That's really interesting. I have set up torches, but it keeps freezing. I'll try setting up more torches, then. Thanks for the advice!
  5. Your residence is in a bad place for water. It's in a tundra biome. So is mine, just cover the water up with wood or something and it'll be fine. A useful design for you is this:

  6. Oh jeez.. That's awesome! Thank you so much! :)
  7. Or you can out a block above the water source, with 1 air in between :)
  8. To prevent water from turning into ice, put a block anywhere above it.

E.g : Water at y = 64, you can place anyblock at y = 65 to 256 to prevent it from turning into ice. Note that the block have to be on the same x and z coordinates.
  9. I'm now #6.
