Legit busts myths #3: Why MTV doesn't play music videos

  1. As we all know, MTV rarely, or hasn't played music videos regularly since the late 90's/early 00's, and this is normally blamed on a number of things, such as:

    1. The internet: With the internet, you can search up any artist, and watch any music video. This is a likely candidate, but I think there is a better one.

    2. MTV wants to cash in on reality shows: Yes, we all like to laugh at people on reality shows who think their life is going to be forever changed for the good by humiliating themselves, but even so, MTV could still be playing music videos along with them. Now, for my third and final idea.

3: Music videos suck today: Most music videos today are just the singer or someone else texting on their phone, and trying to get a boyfriend or girlfriend Would you really want to watch that on TV? Sure, there's some artists today that still make cool music videos, such as the band Ok Go, but the majority of popular artists make videos that seem to be an Ipod commercial which are honestly not worth playing back to back.

Well, there you have it, that is why I think MTV doesn't play music videos any more. Thanks for reading. :)
  2. Welcome to the 21st century
  3. The age of ruined everything media... Music, TV shows, Movies, Music Videos...
  4. Erm, what's MTV? xD
  5. Mundane TeleVision ;)

Music Television is its official name but they don't play music anymore..

There's always Palladia, that's got good music most of the time
  6. All those things are way better in the 21st Century. Radio and network TV are dying, but the internet has made media a thousand times better since the 80's & 90's.
  7. Sure acting is better nowadays, but there are no classics anymore, the closest we get is a rework of an old series. ie. Superman, there aren't as many blockbusters except movies that are a sequel to an older movie. As for TV, I rarely even watch TV because there is only reality shows and cartoons, The one thing I can find myself watching is a late night show. I actually think radio isn't dying, most people listen to the radio in their car, and most people don't want to use data to have internet on the go. These are just my opinions, no point in hating because it won't change them, but I do enjoy reading your replies/thoughts on this.
  8. I did not come to EMC to hate, I just love to talk about TV and radio.
  9. Wasn't there a Youtube video about this?

    EDIT: Found it.

  10. I think. I do borrow some of my points from videos, mainly as they are good points, not with the intent to steal them and claim them as my own, but to help put to rest some myths and what not.
  11. I apologize for being unclear. I wasn't trying to say that anyone stole anything.
  12. I know you weren't, I was just saying that for anyone who might think that. :p
