What exactly is the point of an elevator you have to press a button 10 times to go up a floor? It needs to be automatic or it'll never be used, Ladders are so much easier.
It's a good idea, but i find 2.5k a bit expensive :/ If you are willing to lower it i might need you to build for 2-3 floors, I'll leave you a PM.
I'm thinking this would be much better, I'm not sure if it still works in this version and multiplayer but it was one of the side bar videos.
This works, I've seen it used recently. A comment on the original post: My first thought was, this will never catch on. Why not just use tp signs? Then I realized you're just going after the wrong market. You could sell to people outside of towns who cant use tp signs. If I had a wild colony, I'd definitely consider buying one.
