  1. I have been getting into FTL: Faster Than Light lately. So far I have unlocked The Torus and Bulwark. I suck at the game though; every time I play on normal, I get slaughtered. But while playing on easy and using The Torus, I can get to sector 8. My question is: how the hell am I supposed to beat the rebel flagship? Every time I get freakin' murdered. Either I have enough crew but sucky weapons, or awesome weapons but a tiny crew. So please post some general strategies below.
  2. I personally have never beat it yet but you have to try to aim for its shields with missiles first, then go for its own missiles. The quadra-fire missile is pretty dang powerful. The difficulty of this battle is the fact that it is split into three parts. You have to take as little damage as possible and use the repair beacons efficiently.
  3. I bought the game a couple months ago but haven't played it in a while. I'll download it again and regain whatever skill I had before, then let you know what strategies work out for me.
  4. For those of you who do not know what this is, I found this trailer on youtube:
  5. Jesus... it is a three part battle. Well there goes any hope of winning it.

  8. the 10 commandments of God:
"You shall not talk the name of the Lord your God in vein" Rule # 3
it bothers me to see that rule broken

  10. Whatever :p
  11. FTL is unusually cruel. It requires a massive amount of skill combined with an equally massive amount of luck. I have never even seen the Rebel Flagship.
  12. Try playing on easy and don't jump to the exit beacon as quickly as possible. Take your time and do some random jumps to collect more scrap. Edit: and you are probably never going to make it using The Kestral.
  13. You might find the tips & tricks thread helpful, but one thing I can definitely say is, boarding strategies are generally the strongest. For the boss, the quickest way to take out that missile launcher is to drop a pair of mantis boarders in the room. Because the Flagship's weapons are "artillery" types, instead of standard weapons, they can fire even with 1 power allocated, just slower. You have to destroy their subsystem entirely to stop them.

Another point to know is, evasion is key. Keep crewmembers at the helm and engines whenever you can, get them maxed, and boost your engines to at least 4-5 bars. Cloaking helps, but even without it your survivability goes way up.

Beyond that, it all boils down to one part strategy, two parts luck - what events you run into on the way, and how you build your ship as you go. Just keep trying - the game is unforgivingly hard and the RNG loves to screw you over, but it's the best feeling on earth when you finally earn that final victory. ;)

  14. Thank you. I have never tried boarding; it seems like every time I have a chance to buy a transporter, I either do not enough scrap or to few crew members for it to be effective. I have also never tried boosting my engines. I must try the strategies.
