  1. Recently I saw some person, who will remain unnamed, got banned for buying diamonds cheaper than he was reselling them for (at the same shop). I don't think this is o.k. to do, its just kinda boarder line, but I didn't think this was illegal. Could a mod please clarify if this is illegal or if this instance was just a weird special circumstance? (p.s. I have read the rules, all of them)
  2. Yes, I agree. This was a stupid reason to ban someone. If he sold them for less, he wouldn't be making any money.
  3. This act was recently made a punishable offense.
  4. unless i am reading this wrong, that's how all shops work..
  5. No, he is saying that a guy was exploiting a shop sign. Reverse your logic and you will understand.
  6. Tell you what, set up a chest just like the one in question, then shove every diamond you have into it. Once you are completely out of diamonds and have 0 Rupees, come back and let us know how it worked out for you.

Your friend took advantage of an obvious mistake. No one would have set that chest up the way it was and he took advantage of it, spamming it to alternately buy then sell someone's own items back to himself. Regardless of whether it was against the rules or not, it was a really cruddy thing to do.

  7. ohhhhhh.. I thought he meant the shop owner got banned.
  8. I agree, its a mean thing to do, and hes not a friend, I'm asking is this in line with or against the rules?
  9. I got banned for 'selling out' the shop( I emptied everythin)
  10. Chuck Norris.

  11. Clearly the only logical answer too that question.

  12. Definitely. That's why it's a option in the poll ;)
  13. How about Commandments 2, 4, and 6. Stealing, Rudeness, and lack of Respect for another player.
  14. Thef, would apply to taking something out of a chest. Or at least that's how I interpret it and its not being rude within the chat or via sign chatting. It's being rude throught buying and selling. The respect thing, il leave that to chuck Norris, it is the only real solution.
  15. He gave you the option-he set up the sign you should be able to use it.
  16. Taking advantage of an obvious error, glitch or limitation is not allowed. This applies with player creations as well as game mechanics. We take a grim view of anyone who will not play fair. While taking advantage of a pakour course that can be partially skipped will not earn you a ban don't be surprised if we back the owner not giving out a completion prize.

  17. Exploiting an obvious error on a shop sign is an offense, i think there's no doubt about that.
My impression is that the mods did talk to the offenders and have decided about the ban not only based on the fact that those persons did exploit a mistake on a shop sign, but also other factors.

Considering only the offense of exploiting a mistake on a shop sign, the questions are
    - whether permanent ban is adequate punishment?
    - if there is any solution that is better for the community than permanent ban - expulsion of the offender from the community? (Compare: life sentence IRL.)
  18. Wait, I see there's one point you are missing of that case, and maybe that's why the answers you are getting are a bit confusing.

You see how everyone is talking about a mistake? The ban didn't come just for reselling, that's ok, I don't like it, but it's ok. The issue is that he was doing so in the same shop, because the shop owner made a very obvious mistake with the signs.

That is the "weird special circumnstance" of all the situation, abusing someone's mistake, being completely aware that it was a mistake.
