My brand new to-be computer!

  1. well this sucks. i was finishing up building my computer, and just to do a test boot with the bios only, it worked. i turned it off and turned it back on just for good measure, and sure enough EVERYTHING WENT HORRIBLY WRONG.
the power supply blew up. at least a capacitor in it did. i successfully got an RMA from newegg and sent it in, so hopefully it will be done by next week. but my laptop died completely unless you run it in safemode now, so there is a high chance that i will not be able to use the "PCmover" thingy that i bought. :( but on a bright note it works when its not too busy exploding!
now since i dont have any pictures of the actual computer itself currently, ill list the specs of the computer. since, well, thats what i should do.
intel core i7 2700k @3.5 ghz (quad core, sandy bridge, LGA 1155, turbo clocking (not over-clocking) @3.9ghz)
    stock intel heatsink/fan
    stock intel thermal paste
8 gigs ram (4x2 corsair something or other)
    1tb hard disk seagate something
    asrock z77 extreme4 motherboard
    windows 7 home premium
    (dead) power supply 800w
    normal drive bay
sentey extreme division II halcon case
    geforce GTX 660 TI 3gb
    acer 23.6" monitor
    asus xonar 7.1 sound card
    aerocool fan controller
    razer black widow keyboard
a nifty picture of the case (pretty much how it will look in the end minus the fan controler):
now i know its not a super ultra awesome computer with a bagillion ghz and 100 gb ram and 15057396 TB hard drive with 20 690's running SLI in a mineral-oil cooled fish tank, but its pretty good for playing video games i think.
  2. Thats nice! I run a Xeon 1280 (3.5ghz quad), 16gb 1333 ram, 500gb HDD, gtx 460 super overclocked (Gigabyte), with 2 power supplies. It came stock with a 400w that easily powered everything inside, but then i transferred my graphics card over and needed more power. I bought an fsp (i think) x5booster for one of the 5.25 drive bays, and it works perfectly. It has 450w ability, and looks cool Lol. So if you need more power for your graphics, and you dont want to shell out 150-200 on the biggest psu you can get, i suggest getting a good one for your system components, then getting the Booster for your graphics. P.S. Once you get it running, will you post how much FPS you get with that card?:)

  4. Nice system! Mines getting outdated but is still a beast - It has an AMD phenom II 955 (OC'ed from 3.2 - 4.0) - 8GB of DDR3 1600Mhz - 128GB OCZ vertex 4 SSD - Sapphire Radeon 6850 and a 600w OCZ powersupply.

    Enough of my System

Who makes the Power supply - I would be extremely concerned if it blew up.

  15. Needs some cable management but other then that looks amazing! :)
  16. haha yeah when halomaster1239 (I know him irl) helped me finish it up with cable organizing we realized that all the cables where either too long, too short, too thick, or too plentiful.
  17. NOT bad, i just bought the upgraded version of that one, and it is EPIC!
