  1. What does everyone think about making the messages "JustinGuy joined, last login 5 minutes ago", "JustinGuy disconnected" dark grey (&8) instead of yellow? I think it would make them stand out less so reading chat would be easier....
  2. Actually I was just thinking of another great idea:

When someone disconnects, the system waits 5 seconds before showing the message.
If during the 5 seconds they join back we dont show the join message or the disconnect message.

That would help cut back on the quick leave/joins. What do you all think?
  3. I like it the way it is.

As for the disconnect delay, I like the idea, but sometimes you might be conversing with someone when they suddenly disconnect and reconnect. If you typed something in that window and there was no indication that they had left, you wouldn't know that they had not seen the message.
  4. This is very true. I just hate when people (not always their fault) are like connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect lol
  5. I like it the way it is too, and I don't really find the logging on and off too much of a problem most of the time.

One reason I like the join/leave text yellow is because it stands out better as a system message that way, making it easier to scan for the messages from people you're chatting with.

I think if you want to clean up the chat a bit you might consider removing the death messages (i.e. "soandso blew up"). I preferred it when those messages didn't show up myself. And besides... I'd kind of rather not have everyone know when I slip and fall in lava, lol. Not the proudest moments, you know?
  6. Yeah it is kind of odd that the death messages are global. If they're not taken out altogether, at least only broadcast them within the same world.
  7. Yes I agree, I do not like these death messages, plus the way they are written is horrible. This was added in 1.8 and is not an exposed API yet, but I will be keeping an eye out for it.

Perhaps leaving the leave join they way they are now would be a good idea. I think as the game improves the problems with lag holes and what not will be solved and you won't have people leaving and coming back.
  8. I would take as much as we can out of the chat because of how many people use it that way its not massive spam
  9. Myyyyyy quote leads to this thread!?
  10. You know you bumped this thread from 8 months ago?

  11. I very much dislike it when people bump old posts like this... Shortly after a mod may lock the thread though. I think it is a valid question on the OP. This was much before they added the option to turn those off. And it really doesn't bother me to much unless there is a lot of people disconnecting and connecting

  12. Yea it is relevant, the delay thing I think was added anyways, but changing it to grey would be nice :)
  13. Maybe it used to be worse... it really just depends on the activity in chat for me- If I am in the wild, I would rather not have the join/disconnect messages. But I prefer to have them in town; so I know when certain people come online... I am to lazy to turn them on/ off- OH! I remember why I don't turn it off. Because I don't see when someone is banned when I have it turned off.
  14. *to the tune of old school* OLLDDDDD THREEADD. Hahah. But in all seriousness, I think dark grey disconnect/connect messages would be fantastic! Less distracting/stand-out ish.
  15. I dont even get these messages?
  16. Well Justin still haven't add this feature to EMC ;)
  17. Congratulations, it takes skill to bump an 8 month old thread.

  18. We agreed to keep the status text yellow, but most of the other ideas have been implemented.
