Writing Commissions [2020]

Discussion in 'Writers' Corner' started by Joniia, Apr 8, 2020.

  1. Hello!
I did writing commissions last year around this same time, so I decided to reopen them
since I took a bit of an absence.
I'm an experienced writer, I've done a few commissions and have written many
short stories and novellas for personal and educational projects.
I wanted to offer the EMC community my skills should any of you have projects
you're working on, or would just like a piece in general.
If you believe the prices are too steep, please let me know and I will
    do some adjustments.
Also, the expected deliveries are projected to be longer than the time
I will realistically need as I do write very quickly. However, this is to ensure
I have enough time if anything comes up.

    Prices & Commission Types
    Drabble:
    • (100-500 words) This is a work that consists of thoughts and loose narrative up to 500 words. You provide the prompt and I will write you a stream-of-consciousness style paragraph or snapshot.
    • Price: Free
    • Expected delivery: Within one business week (likely closer to 48-72 hours)
    Short Story:
    • (3k - 8k words) For this, you must provide a prompt. You can also expand upon said prompt by providing me with characters, setting, time, and other plot and story factors that will help me expand upon your ideas. You can be vague if you would like me to provide my own creative outlook and perspective, but if you would like a specific story you are imagining you must elaborate.
    • Price: 10,000r (Up to 40% of your payment will be returned if your story falls under 3,500-4,000 words)
    • Expected delivery: Within two business weeks
    Novella:
    • (Over 8k words) The description for this piece follows along the same lines as a short story. However, this will be somewhat lengthier, and allows you and I to expand upon your ideas thoroughly. This option will likely lead to more collaboration and you will be given the opportunity to check the drafts and chapters as I produce them.
    • Price: 30,000r (Up to 40% of your payment will be returned if you decide to abandon the project or your story falls under 8,500-10,000 words)
    • Expected delivery: Within one-to-two months
    RPG/D&D Options:
    1. Character backstory/synopsis/idea: Backstories and synopses are up to 5k words. Character ideas are 2,500r, and backstories/synposes are 5,000r. If you would like an idea and backstory, it is 6,000r. Delivery can be expected within 2 business weeks. Please provide what information you have thus far concocted about your character and/or the ideas you have, as well as the storyline or campaign setting.
    2. Magic system: 25,000-100,000r depending upon the detail that is required and how many spells and magic elements you need in the compendium. No word limit. Each spell will be given a pronunciation, 1-paragraph backstory, and 1-5 sentence description. Delivery ranges and will be discussed with you. Please provide what information you have thus far concocted about your character(s), plot, and/or the ideas you have, as well as the storyline, lore, and setting.
    3. Fantasy Religion: 30,000r depending upon the detail that is required and how many assets or 'holy' works you would like written. No word limit. I can create Gods, backstories/lore, commandments/sins, etc., etc. Delivery ranges and will be discussed with you. Please provide what information you have thus far concocted about your character(s), plot, and/or the ideas you have, as well as the storyline, lore, and setting. Specify what assets you would like.
    4. You can pitch to me other assets to your RPG, game, or campaign that you would like written and we can discuss that.
    Other options:
    • Script or screen-written adaptation: Price depends upon the breadth of the work/idea. Delivery will be discussed with you in pms.
    • PR / Advertisement: I will write you an advertisement for a store, commission system, or whatever else. Will be up to 2k words. Costs 5,000-10,000r.
    • Lore / Spellbook: Price depends the breadth of the work/idea. Delivery will be discussed with you in pms.
    • Journal: Fictional and narrative journal entry (or letter) that you can use however you'd like, perhaps for developing lore or adding to a historical reenactment. Price depends upon the breadth of the work/idea. Delivery will be discussed with you in pms.

    Rules:
    • Nothing M/A or 18+ ~ I am a minor and I am not comfortable writing anything explicit or overtly inappropriate. Also, I would still like to follow the EMC rules when it comes to censorship and contextual writing.
    • Do not distribute this work as your own ~ Writing is one of my passions and I would like to ask that you do not take credit for my own time and effort, no matter how much input you gave. If you would like to use what I've given you elsewhere, please just tell me where you'd like to post it.
    • No works centered around real religions ~ Religion can be a facet of your story prompt, but I am agnostic and have no serious experience with any religion and thus I do not want to provide you with a piece that may be factually inaccurate or offensive.
    • I will not write your homework or thesis.
    • Once I accept your proposal and selection, I will respond to you. Please pay up front.

    Things to Note:
I am most experienced with the genres of fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction. Though, I can
still assure you that realistic fiction, horror, and other works will definitely be
    of quality.
  2. hey! i think it’s awesome that you’re passionate about writing! i love seeing things people are passionate about so i would LOVE it if you would write me a drabble just about things that make you happy! stuff like that always makes me happier! also, i understand that your work is SO incredibly valuable and many would be willing to pay that much, but i think that can be quite a steep price so i would consider lowering it!
i know it’s free, but i want to support your creativity so i still want to pay you something for it! excited to hear back from you!
  3. The prices (except for the magic system, because magic systems are a pain) have been lowered.

    Here you are:

Happiness is hard to define. Its presence can be unnoticeable, because its more often found in the little things than within yourself. It radiates from the crack of the needle on your great grandma’s old record. It seeps into the pores of your skin through dried paint. It forms between the octaves of your family’s voices and hides itself in the bonds you share with those around you. However, sometimes happiness needs to leave. It finds that there isn’t space for it to be expressed. This doesn’t mean you did anything wrong; it just means that it’s time for it to take a break and make someone else feel whole for the time being. You can call happiness back, though. It will hear you through the sound of the oven’s timer while you bake pastries. It will feel you through heavy steps on a ballroom floor. It will find you again by spotting your smile in the crowd of a concert.
Sometimes, happiness comes in a packaged gift. Maybe it’s handmade jewelry, or a ribbon-bound journal. Other times, it comes from you giving it away. It travels from your hands to the hands of a lover or a friend. It is cooked into a meal given to someone who needs it more than you.
But what is it? If it is in all of the little things, if it is in a gift, if it is found through charity, what is it, really? Could it be a spirit or a being? Is it just a result of neurotransmitters and the pace of re-uptake? Is it just an emotion that gets all tied up into these theoretical ideas?
I don’t know. It doesn’t come in a raw form. I’ve told you where you can find it, and how you can give it away. I can’t tell you what it is, and I can’t define it. Those are existential questions, ones that can be only answered after a life littered with sparks of happiness. But, maybe, just maybe, you can find it sooner if you search for it. Call it. I encourage you to go find it yourself. I can only tell you where you can find it in mine. Figure out where it is in your life.

  5. This sounds like an awesome project you have going on here. I always like checking out the Creativity Section and supporting all these epic people on EMC! :)
I don't want to give you a huge project yet but maybe do a drabble about uncertainty (unsure about career, love, emotions, etc)?
I do have another question though, how do you get yourself interested in writing 3000+ words? Like do you brainstorm worlds or do some kind of character maps? I'm interested in seeing writer's creative approaches. One of my friends really likes writing too and he says he "goes with the flow of the story" whatever that means lol

  6. This is awesome. I love writing silly and funny stuf. Hope it goes well :D
