  2. Hope this helped some of you :)
  3. Copying that text is a copyright violation, so it must be removed from here. The content of that wiki is "available under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0.". The "NC" means non-commercial; this website has adverts. And there's no attribution given, anyway.

    Copyright is important; don't steal works from other people.
  4. I do not believe wiki can copyright information that does not belong to them. This content belongs to Mojang. Which the wiki states here. Wiki copied the information onto their pages without paying copyrights - so I doubt copy and pasting from their pages can be considered infringement.

    • © 2006-2012 Curse, Inc.
    • Minecraft content and materials are trademarks and copyrights of Mojang AB or its licensors. All rights reserved. This site is a part of Curse, Inc. and is not affiliated with Mojang AB.
  5. Naughty wiki, then - if it's copied from Mojang. Still, we can't copy a copy either.

    It's still a copyright infringement; we are distributing copyrighted text - whether it's (c) Mojang 'all rights reserved' or it's wiki CC-BY-NC.
  6. I doubt Mojang will mind.

    Mojang puts the information out there so the MC community has it. This is why wiki can copy it without problems. As long as no one is claiming the information is their intellectual property - it is not stealing.
    cnquast and IcecreamCow like this.
  7. Orly... why does it clearly say "(c) All rights reserved" then? Just for lulz?

    If lots of other people steal things, is it OK to do the same?

    You cannot copy/paste copyrighted text without permission - it's simple. That's the law.

    I know that a lot of sites do it, but that does not mean it's OK.
  8. It is not copyright infringement if you do not claim to own the information. They are not stealing - they are spreading the information around the MC community which is a benefit to Mojang. I assure you - if people stopped posting MC info to the web then Mojang would be in big trouble. It would mean their game is loosing public interest.

    Edit: It is kind of funny that I picked up your post before you edited it.
  9. Wrong. Totally wrong. But, never mind.
  10. Something tells me Mojang will be completely fine with the way the information was used on the wiki and here. They've already stated numerous times that they're 100% fine with people using their copyrighted content for Youtube videos, which is usually much more frowned upon than game info. I believe they have the copyright there for protection against things like, if I were to make my own building game and used all of this exact info.

    It's simliar to how we have rights to the EMC logo, but don't mind when people use it for wallpapers etc.
  11. From mojang...

    WHAT YOU CAN DO

    Non-Commercial Things

    We are very relaxed about things you do for yourself. Pretty much anything goes there - so go for it and have fun just don't distribute anything we've made etc.
    We are also quite relaxed about other non-commercial things so feel free to create and share videos, screen shots, independently created mods (that don't use Minecraft Assets), fan art, machinima etc;
    However if you want to use the Minecraft Name in the title of a product that you distribute or service that you provide (even if it is for free) then you have to:
    • follow the Essential Requirements;
    • do so in a way that honestly and fairly describes those things or the purpose of them; and
    • ensure that the Minecraft Name (which includes any confusingly similar name) is not the first word and don't use any other aspect of the Minecraft Brand or Minecraft Assets as part of any related branding, including as or as part of any logo.
    This applies especially if you want to set up and run blogs, servers, community forums, fan sites, fan clubs, news groups, events and gatherings.
  12. lol, so should i take it down somehow or keep it up? :p
  13. If Mojang contacts us and asks us to take it down, we'll take care of it. :)
