Hey everyone! I've built an iron farm underground, same design as I previously used on Empire above ground. But no golems are spawning. I used the design at http://youtu.beDev3Ls8papM 14 villagers, 40 doors. I have cleared 5 blocks out in front of all doors. I have two 1x1 shafts to surface above spawning area capped with glass. Still no golems. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.
First off, your link is broken, so that makes it a little harder to figure out what's wrong Second, is the sky clear above the doors? I believe that's a thing that can make a difference. Finally, are the caves around you lit up? If there's lots of spawnable area around where you built, it's possible that the chances of a golem spawning are just too low.
Sorry about the link. Try this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dev3Ls8papM Caves are lit, very lit. No, sky above doors are not clear. Could you elaborate on the requirements here, what I need to do?
I am not sure, but I don't think iron farms are supposed to be underground. I am not sure, I never looked it up or tried it for myself. If it is wrong, don't correct me
lol the farm you linked has already enought problems working on full ocean biome with nothing but air, putting it undergound is a dead end. Why would you build it underground may I ask?
Iron golem farms can definitely be underground. Would have to see this specific setup to see whether this would work
In order for a door to count as a "house", there has to be a different number of blocks in front of and behind the door that are exposed to the sky. [EDIT] Explanation can be found here: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Village_mechanics#Housing
Thanks everyone for your help. I tweaked it and it still doesn't work, so I'm giving up. And I found a great public iron farm on my server anyway. So all's well that ends well.
