  6. An auction is actually closed automatically (officially) if 7 days has passed with no bids. However if no bids have taken place then the auctioneer can request a close at any time, therefore SteveClasher's bid is invalid in this auction. :p

I was a bit confused about that too but I got staff clarification and that is just stating that if you no one bids after 7 days then it becomes officially closed BUT you may request a close before those 7 days as long as no-one has bid. That's basically to prevent people filing back on 6 month old auctions, since things have severely inflated, and then bidding on them.
