It's planned to be an on-demand streaming site, whenever you're indecisive about a movie or episode of a show or music to listen to, you just go there, pick whichever you desire, and it streams for as long as you are on.
It's all free with donations as an option! Donating wouldn't be required but we need some way to pay for hosting :p We're gonna get a kickstarter up soon too!
The Fair Use Act states that as long as we list (1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
I wish you the best of luck and I feel some kind of free and legal streaming service would be incredibly beneficial to everyone. Post your kickstarter when you do it and I will check it out.
Thanks! We're working on the code right now, so we can show people the look and feel of the site on the KickStarter. We're hoping it'll help everyone who can't pay for Netflix or just can't decide on a show!
Not trying to put the concept down or anything, but a fair use act isn't going to cover something like this. The reason websites like this don't exist is because it'd cost thousands of dollars to get the rights to host the movies like you're proposing and you'd possibly have to pay something each time someone watches a movie.
After reading mba's comment, I decided to actually look up the fair use act and your use doesn't look like it will count. The fair use act requires you to transform the content in some way such as when writing a review or making a parody.
I was talking with people about that issue, and most said it would be fine, I didn't get in touch with any head executives directly, but if someone wants a thing taken down on a small site, then so be it.
You might want to contact a lawyer about it and see what they have it say. If they say it is OK, add that to the kickstarter and explain how you will achieve the site.
