So staff are able to over-ride the rules? Auctioning residences have been against the rules since I've been on here, yet this particular residence's derelict time can be over-ridden and can be auctioned?
In the past, the prior owner simply saying 'the res can go ahead and be unclaimed' was enough to just do it - and allow the residence to be unclaimed...
Now them saying it can be unclaimed is ignored, and is being withheld? This is really inveterate.
You are only upset because you are directly involved. Take a step back and look at it from the other point of view. I had MULTIPLE people claim that the previous owner said they could have it. The previous owner has no rights to it anyways.
Literal proof and "claims" are two very different things. Letting it go derelict would have been the best course of action like every other spawn lot. Fair is fair, not who can pay the highest price.
How would you feel if you were forced to be in class or at work when the timer hit zero? A lot of players contacted me with that concern. The decision was not an easy one to make because I knew that some players would be upset. And I had at least 2 people with proof. Ever thought that the banned player was just playing people?
@Bro_im_inifinite: While I understand your point. I have to point out that it was not an attack. I am doing what every mediator does and trying to have players see both sides of the argument. I'll repeat again: This was not an easy decision to make because I knew what kind of drama it would cause with some players. However, hard decisions have to be made sometimes.
At that point it's first come first serve. Whoever had permission given first should be given the res. Literally every other spawn lot that's gone derelict has had no supervision to make sure someone would be able to claim it on a decent time. Some have gone derelict past midnight, and if the person wanted it they had to stay up and wait to claim it. This res is no different.
I had proof that he said it was okay - having others say they have permission then it becomes an issue, yeah - but now only allowing people who have millions of rupees makes this no longer a community thing, it becomes an auction, that has been against the rules since forever...
No other spawn lots have had this happen before because they weren't from banned members. A change is in development to prevent banned players from being able to keep their residences due to voting because we noticed that a player thought they'd be sly and reset the timer to their liking. Before, we weren't aware this was a problem.
Uncharted situations like this allow the Empire Admins to make and adjust policies where needed for the good of the community. I understand your aversion to this particular decision, but the auction is active and there is no changing it now.
I agree with Baili, Elite, SkyDragon and Bro_im_infinite. Although it could've caused some problems with other owners wanting the residence, I would leave it up to the derelict system to take care of. I don't see the need to auction it off instead.
Although apparently we have no say in this, that is simply my opinion. I'm not going to fight for it, I'm just gonna out it out there. :)
However, for this res something else had to be done and we decided to make an auction experiment. However, due to the nature of the drama people make out of things, residence auctions won't become a part of Empire rules at this time.
While using the derelict system would be ideal, can you imagine the amount of complaining that would ensue? I live in a university dorm, and my internet connection is constantly 1ms, practically as low as it can go. Give me a few minutes to quick write a mouse script if there is the chest/wool approval system, and I have a one click advantage in this competitive situation.
Jkjkjk, as I agree with how much complaining the derelict system would cause in this situation, we can clearly see that this is also causing a lot of complaints, so I don't see much of a difference.
