sure the syntax looks simple, but its such a pointless use of time. You're better off learning Java which will provide you real education for the real world of programming. niche languages with no syntax and validation checkers = such a waste of time.

Plus once you start 'learning' whats available to you, java and skript are honestly the same amount of time invested.

Developers don't spend time writing code, they spend time designing code, and skript is only less syntax for "writing" code, doesn't help you design code.

You then end up wasting countless hours going to load your new code only to find a syntax error, which never even happens in java.

I know that it serves no use outside of Minecraft :P I'm just learning it to fill all the spare time i've had on my hands the past few days. Java is too much effort for me, because I always seem to forget it and have to constantly relearn how to use Bukkit/Spigot. I made a semi-working thing in Maven before though :3

Skript is amazing for Minecraft for sure. There's a lot of things it can accomplish on most servers (including here) with way less work required. I know those who ONLY code in Java etc. will have the whole "holier than thou" thing and try an denounce it...but my friends and I have created things in days that others took months.

Does it make you as accepted in the 'coder's crowd'? Probably not...but who cares, it's about fun.

Soul I've had to re-learn java so many times lel... but i've also memorized skript as well... Skript I can say is easy... and is very simple to make certain things with, like certain commands, some events, etc...

however, it is limited on what you can do - and unlike java it takes longer to respond on the server.... because it has to convert back to java...

The best way i know of to write something in java ... write down what you want to make... then start out like any plugin ... if you don't know something you may always go on spigot or bukkitdev irc or forums and ask around... i'm sure someone can answer your questions...

At first it might seem harder than skript, and i suppose it is a little bit, yeh ... but once you get used to it (i'm even having to re-get used to it) you start to get a feel of how it works and it will be easier to code :)

From my experience with Skript so far, if there is any 'delay' it's so minuscule that it doesn't matter. The further some of my friends and I learn about what we can do (and the future of what it's becoming), there hasn't been much done with Java on MC servers that we couldn't do using Skript.

(I never abandoned the Java version btw. I'm planning to revive that when I know more)

Good job. I love seeing how Skript allows everyday people, regardless of their current coding experience, can make cool things. A lot of stuff I use elsewhere was actually provided by players who just wanted to contribute and try it out, and ended up making something cool. :)
